above is the link to a youtube video about the Tacoma Narrows Bridge that collapsed in November 1940. Now this bridge did not just collapse. First it started moving like a wave headed for the shore. The reason this happened was because of resonance. Resonance is when 2 things have the same pitch (or they vibrate at the same frequency). When something of that frequency occurs, it causes the other thing to vibrate because it has the same frequency. For example- let's say you have two pianos, tuned exactly to the same pitch. When you strike Middle C on one piano, the middle C string on the other piano is going to vibrate because one has been struck at the same frequency. I find this whole concept very intriguing and suggest anyone and everyone to watch the above video. ENJOY! =)

yet another song...

and yes, i wrote this one. :)

his name
his name is Jesus
his love is true
his name is Jesus
he died for me and you

and when my heart is
sunken and hurt
my Jesus comes and
cleans out the dirt

today He'll love you,
tomorrow too
now and forever
the whole day through

He's love and mercy,
amazing grace,
consistent helper,
my resting place.

his name is Jesus,
his love is true,
his name is Jesus,
he died for me and you.

camp

just got back from camp!!! wh00t! it RAWKED. our speaker, Brandon Barnard, was GREAT. this wasn't one of those get-high-and-all-encouraged-about-how-great-God-is (though he IS great!) camps, it was a lets-find-out-how-to-live-our-faith-in-a-practical-way camps... a lot of issues came up, but hey, when God sculpts us, things in our life have to fall off for us to become more like Him.

one thing i learned at camp is how important it is to memorize scripture. i always memorize scripture, just cuz its the right thing to do i guess. but its best to do it cuz you WANT to. you need to, to fight off the flaming arrows from the devil (check out Ephesians 6:11-18).

another kewl way brandon used to relate God's Word to our lives is daily bible reading. of course i always try to read my bible every day (right now i'm reading through Matthew), but sometimes it doesnt always sink in. he told us about a thing called the James Challenge. what you do is read James chapter 1 every day for a week. then you read James 2 every day for a week, working your way through all 5 books of James. it sounds really cool, and our sunday school class is doing it as a group this week.

well i have a TON still to write, but i g2g. WRITE MORE L8R!

rain

it rained last night. i woke up sometime in the wee hours this morning to hear rain. soft, yet pounding rain. i wanted to run outside and start dancing. it's not that i haven't seen rain in so long or anything, i just LOVE rain. especially dancing in it. many poeple find me unusual. but who cares? not me. my theory is live life to God's glory while you're still alive. when i decided to take on this new and optimistic persona about a year ago, i found myself to be much more enjoyable and cheerful. but back to the rain. anyway, so some people find my enjoying rain to be "depressing". this i don't understnad, since rain is probably the most hopeful thing i know of. "how?" you may ask. rain, though most people think it rather clean, is quite filthy by the time it reaches us. on its way down, rain cleans the lower atmosphere. it washes away all the dirt and grime and leaves us with a clean, fresh world. and that gives me reason enough to dance.
